Living a dream of tinkering with guns & Getting Paid for It!

I completed the Master Gunsmith course a few months ago and opened my “retirement” shop. I thought I knew something about guns after competing in rifle and pistol matches for over 30 years, Law Enforcement Officer over 25 years, and fixing my own guns. That was farther from the truth. The information and combined knowledge presented by all of the instructors “blew me away” is an understatement! When I opened my shop, I had the knowledge, confidence, training, and understanding given by AGI to be able to tackle that first scope mounting up to doing a complete restoration of a customer’s “grand-daddy’s shotgun”. Knowing I also have the GCA disassembly/assembly videos and Ken’s “Over the Shoulder” videos, helps if I need a refresher on something I almost forgot, (like putting the cocking lever spring OVER the sear spring) on a Stevens Model 311. I now have Insurance agents request I become a Certified Appraiser, so I just enrolled in that course. They are going to start holding orders for me BEFORE I’ve even received the course! My wife is now getting annoyed at me because I’m “always working out in the shop, and now you’re going to do Appraisals”. Guns have always been a passion of mine, and AGI is letting me live a dream of tinkering with guns, AND GETTING PAID FOR IT! So much for retirement… I wish I had done this years ago! Any time I’ve had to call AGI with questions about testing, signing on to an area, enrolling, etc., Marcus and Chris have always been extremely helpful and friendly to talk with. Thank you AGI/GCA, for giving me the skills to do what I love doing. Allan Cameron Battle Born Gunsmithing

I am so excited about getting some gunsmithing credentials!

I am not sure why I am so excited about getting some gunsmithing credentials, but I really am. I can’t say enough good about the whole program, not to mention the great club videos you all do each month. You all collectively possess the world’s knowledge on gunsmithing in my opinion. Thanks for all you all do for us. p.s. my dogs are always there at my feet when I am studying the videos and I fully expect them to sing the theme music one day soon.

Looking forward to a fulfilling career in Gunsmithing

I am writing to express my gratitude for the American Gunsmithing Institute’s Professional Gunsmithing Course. As a 53-year-old individual passionate about firearms, I have been reloading and tinkering with guns for many years. After encountering health issues and contemplating early retirement, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming a gunsmith. Upon researching various training options, I came across AGI and found it to be the best fit for my needs. The video courses, including the Master Gunsmith course, provided invaluable knowledge and insights. The detailed instructions and expertise of the instructors, particularly Bob Dunlap, have been instrumental in enhancing my skills. I have successfully repaired and customized firearms, and the courses on Lathe and Milling Machine have been beneficial for creating specialized tools. The flexibility of the courses and the ability to learn at my own pace have allowed me to prepare for a new career while balancing other commitments. I highly recommend AGI’s courses to anyone interested in firearms, from aspiring gunsmiths to experienced enthusiasts. The investment in these courses has been worthwhile, and I look forward to a fulfilling career in gunsmithing.

Thank you for providing top-notch education in firearms

Having been a gun enthusiast for many years, I decided to increase my knowledge of firearms. I initially tried a “book school,” which proved to be a waste of time. Fortunately, I stumbled upon your website and ordered the AGI Into course, followed by the Practical Gunsmith course and several Armorer’s Courses. The deeper I delved into your courses, the more impressed I became. The Master Gunsmith course, in particular, has been exceptionally informative and comprehensive. The instructors, including Bob Dunlap, Gene, Darrell, and T.R., are highly knowledgeable and make learning enjoyable. I am in the process of buying and repairing used guns, aiming to open a part-time shop in the future. The AGI courses have given me the confidence to pursue a new career at the age of 53, and I am genuinely looking forward to the future. Thank you, AGI, for providing top-notch education in firearms.

Making my dream become a reality.

I want to Thank YOU Gene once again for making my dream become a reality. I wouldn’t have been nearly as motivated if it wasn’t made so accessible by you and your great staff. This is VERY exciting for me…and I know you must like to see your students put your training to good use. It must be very rewarding for you as it is for those of us that go for the roses. Take care Gene, Thank you.

I am so excited about getting some gunsmithing credentials!

I retired from Nissan after 26 years working as a maintenance technician in the Smyrna, TN plant. There appeared to be only a few gunsmiths in our area with very big backlogs. I felt Gunsmithing to be an area where I could do well in supplementing my retirement. After retiring, I contacted a friend who directed me to AGI. Before taking the course I knew nothing about firearm assembly or repair. After the course I now have the confidence to tackle almost any common repair. My first repair as a student was on a Radom P-35 belonging to a friend. I repaired a feed problem and replaced broken grips. Not long after completing the course, I applied for and received my FFL. Since then I have repaired, cleaned or restored over 60 different firearms. I would highly recommend this class to anyone interested in repairing firearms. The course was very easy to follow and Mr. Dunlap does an excellent job of presenting the material in steps that are interesting, easy to comprehend, and remember.
